About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Healthdelivers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as postgraduate research degrees, and provides an exciting and innovative learning environment. The Faculty works with health care providers, individuals, families and communities in order to meet their health needs and requirements and deliver person-centred care. The Faculty offers fields of study across a broad range of health-related professions including clinical exercise physiology, midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy, osteopathy, pedorthics, podiatry, psychology, speech pathology, sport and exercise science.
Given the success and growth of the Faculty’s social work programs, we are seeking to appoint two (2) Lecturer / Senior Lecturers. The successful applicants will actively contribute to the Faculty through student centered teaching practice and development, contribute to the research and/or scholarship of teaching profile of the Faculty through their publications, and undertake relevant engagement and service activities to support the Faculty.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Provide a high standard of teaching and enhance the student learning experience byactively engaging in the adoption of existing and emerging learning technology and platforms andproviding flexible options across blended and online delivery modes.
- Undertake research activities that align with the research profile of the Faculty.
- Undertake relevant community and professional engagement that support and enhance the University and Faculty’s profile and priorities.
About you
You will be a highly-engaged, innovative and inspiring academic, committed to reflective teaching practice, enhancing the student learning experience and graduate outcomes. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be dedicated to working collegially and effectively across a multi-disciplinary team. Your strong links within the discipline will enable effective collaboration with internal and external colleagues on research activities.
In addition, you will demonstrate:
- A PhD in a social work or related discipline, and post-qualifying social work practice experience of no less than 5 years. Applicants must be eligible for, or have current, membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Demonstrated experience teaching at a tertiary level in social work and in the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative curricula.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of contemporary educational technologies and teaching both practical and theoretical topics in Social Work in blended and online environments across a range of practice settings and populations.
Salary and benefits

- These are two full-time positions: 1 x fixed term (2 years) and 1 x fixed term (3 years).

- Academic Level B or C.
- The base salary for Lecturer (Level B) ranges from $101,544 - $120,179 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $140,609.
- The base salary for Lecturer (Level C) ranges from $123,900 - $142,531 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $166,761 per annum.
