We are hunting for a software engineering star, with a track record in supporting complex services, and a passion for service improvement. You will be joining an established team of developers and specialists, implementing and supporting Business Applications creating a positive user experience for both University staff and students.

About the Role

 You will be developing and configuring business applications, leading the way for improvements and efficient use of our services. As part of the Business Applications Support team, you will work alongside experienced application specialists and software engineers, as well as software suppliers, to help our professional services staff make best use of our systems and services. We support a wide range of services and projects, from home grown applications to cloud based SaaS.

What you’ll do

  • Develop, maintain, and improve the services which make up our suite of business applications to ensure we continue to have high quality, reliable, and well documented software.
  • Work collaboratively, throughout the whole software lifecycle, with teams across the organisation to understand user requirements and help shape these into solutions
  • Liaise with our 3rd party suppliers to upgrade and maintain our applications and ensure they are fit for purpose and meet the University’s defined standards and system requirements
  • Keep an oversight of documentation and ensure that is maintained to our requirements, creating it where required if not covered by the 3rd party supplier
  • Work with other teams around iSolutions on improving reliability, monitoring, and security.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in troubleshooting unfamiliar technical issues with tenacity and a methodical approach
  • Ability to liaise and get the best from 3rd party software supplier support.
  • Experience in maintaining applications in modern programming language, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Experience or knowledge of Linux and/or Windows system administration
  • Awareness of and continued interest in cyber security threats that could impact our services and integrations
  • A keenness to learn and delve into a range of other languages and applications
  • The integrity required to work with both commercially sensitive and personally identifiable information.
