Job Description
The Mechanical Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a research assistant in the area of biomechanics. The research assistant should be knowledgeable in both experimental and computational biomechanics. The candidate should be able to measure extremity joint biomechanical properties (strength, stiffness, range of motion) in children aged 4-12 years old as well as perform computational (numerical) simulations for child extremity joint biomechanics. The preferred candidate should have demonstrated experience in using the Biodex Isokinetic Dynamometer and LS DYNA software as well as having a Master’s degree in the relevant field.
Minimum Qualification
An appropriate educational degree at Master’s level supplemented with documented evidence to support the following:
- Ability to use the Biodex isokinetic dynamometer
- Ability to perform numerical simulations with the LS DYNA software
- Good technical writing skills
- Flexible approach and initiative in executing the role.
Preferred Qualification
- Command of biomechanics and anatomy
- Command of finite element analysis/simulation
- Demonstrable willingness to support work in the lab and on the field.
- Be adaptable and flexible to the continuous changes associated with research demands
- Commitment to provide a safe and healthy workplace
