Job Details

King’s Business School, King’s College London, is looking for a full Professor in the fields of Strategy, International Management or Entrepreneurship to join our Strategy, International Management and Entrepreneurship (SIME) Department, ideally from 1 September 2023.

King’s College London (KCL) is one of the world’s leading universities, presently ranked 35th globally by the Times Higher Education. Founded in 1829, it now is a home to more than 27,000 students from 150 countries.

King’s Business School is located at KCL’s Strand Campus in central London, permitting it to draw on the limitless energies of London’s businesses, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and change-makers. It is an exciting place for collaboration and innovation to produce outstanding research and social impact. Founded in 2017, KBS has achieved AACSB and EQUIS accreditations and aims to achieve “triple crown” status in the year ahead.

Over 90 per cent of King’s Business School’s research output has been judged ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ by the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF). The School was one of the ten highest scoring institutions for business and management studies overall and ranks fourth on its research environment.

The SIME Department has a strong research reputation in developing theory, methods, and knowledge to advance our understanding of business, innovation, and entrepreneurial activity in an international institutional context. Within KBS, the SIME Department delivered the strongest REF returns.

Research comprises four core themes: (1) international business, comparative management, and strategy, (2) global strategies for sustainability and corporate social responsibility, (3) knowledge-intensive firms, innovation, and appropriability, and (4) entrepreneurship from a comparative and social dimension. The SIME Department has built extensive research networks through international academic collaborations, and it has a strong commitment to developing research impact through links with policymakers and practitioners. Department members regularly publish in leading journals in management, international business, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The Department is home to two Fellows of the Academy of International Business, a Fellow of the British Academy of Management, and a Fellow of the International Association of Applied Psychology.

Our future colleague will be a scholar with an international academic reputation and will be recognised as having made a significant and innovative contribution in his or her field. S/he will have a strong publication record including peer-reviewed articles published in world-leading, relevant journals and should have a proven ability and willingness to initiate and lead funded research projects. In line with the strong commitment KBS has made to sustainability, our future colleague will have a credible research record and research pipeline related to sustainability questions.

The Department provides support for a large undergraduate programme and hosts three highly successful MScs, one in International Management, another in Strategic Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and a third in Medical Technology (MedTech) Innovation and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences (Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine). Our future colleague will be involved in these programs and have scope to shape future offerings. Experience with executive development programs and a desire to engage in them at KBS are a plus.

Our future colleague will be joining a vibrant and ambitious Business School with opportunities to take a major leadership role and enhance the profile of the SIME Department with external stakeholders. Willingness to develop the activities of the Department, notably in building collaborative global networks, supporting the delivery of high-performing teaching programmes, promoting interdisciplinarity and research excellence, and ensuring student satisfaction, are highly desirable.

The selection process will include a presentation and panel interview. Further details will be provided to shortlisted candidates.

King's is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and through this appointment it is our aim to develop candidate pools that include applicants from all backgrounds and communities. We particularly encourage applications from women, people from black and minority ethnic communities, the LGBT+ community and from people with disabilities.
