The Core Technology Platforms (CTP) at New York University Abu Dhabi are multidisciplinary, centrally organized research facilities comprised of 12 core laboratories. We provide access to hundreds of instruments, user training, and research support to NYU Abu Dhabi academic community and collaborators. For more information, please refer to the CTP website.

The CTP seeks to appoint a Research Instrumentation Specialist (RIS) for a Fixed Term of three years, renewable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and maintenance management of the CTP equipment across all core laboratories. This includes managing the equipment database, installations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostics, breakdowns, and vendor visits.

Duties will include setting up and managing the CTP equipment inventory database to track the records such as lifecycle, maintenance, addition of accessories, required consumables, and utilization. It will also include regular maintenance of the equipment and identifying spare parts, accessories, consumables, software, and procuring accordingly.

The successful candidate will manage the equipment contracts, vendors' maintenance visits, and installing and commissioning new equipment at the core labs.

The RIS will work closely with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) department to identify the required safety gears and tools in the core labs. The candidate will assist with the equipment's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and manage the CTP equipment scheduling/booking system.

This position requires a candidate with a solid technical background in diverse science and engineering research laboratory equipment.

Applicants must have Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. Three years of relevant experience must include experience with university-level research equipment operation and maintenance. Experience and strong knowledge of spectrometry, spectroscopy, and chromatography are advantageous. Competent IT knowledge and experience with SQL Database creation and management are beneficial. More than five years of working experience in research institutes/universities dealing with installing and commissioning research instruments is preferred.
