Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Pharmacology (approximately 50% teaching, 50% research). This is an exciting opportunity for a research academic with strong teaching commitment to develop their research activities within a leading UK medical school while delivering and overseeing pharmacology teaching and assessment to medical students. The position is based within the School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences (CES).
CES houses internationally recognised medical and basic bioscience research interests in areas of respiratory disease, microbiology, neurosciences and immunology. CES is one of four schools within the larger Faculty of Medicine and contributes to the Faculty’s pursuit of excellence in biomedical sciences and clinical research. The Faculty’s affiliation with the NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust provides a unique opportunity for medical researchers to pursue patient-centred translational-based research. In the recent 2021 REF exercise, 100% of the Faculty's research was rated as "world leading" or "internationally excellent" for impact.
In addition to developing their own research portfolio, the successful applicant will be part of a team responsible for delivering pharmacology teaching and assessment to medical students. This will include delivery of lectures, practicals, workshops and tutorials to students in the early years of the programmes. They will also be expected to take a leadership role for preparing students for sitting the national Prescribing Safety Assessment.
Please on application submissions you need to give two references to complete the application process.
