Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for 3 Research Fellow positions in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Appointments will be made on a 1 year contract basis with possibility for renewal.

The Department of Diagnostic Imaging (DDI) is the clinical service department in the National University Hospital (NUH), which has a broad range of research areas including diagnostic imaging (abdominal imaging, cardiac & thoracic imaging, head & neck imaging) and development of novel imaging techniques (nuclear and molecular imaging, computational imaging, etc). With the formation of the National University Health System (NUHS), both clinical and academic departments come under a common governing structure. NUHS was incorporated on 23 January 2008 to integrate education, research and clinical care.

Purpose of the post

Our lab is focused on immuno-oncology imaging and engineering, nucleic acids nanotechnology, computational biomedical imaging. We are seeking a person with preferred experience in cancer immunology, immune engineering, biomedical imaging, or computational imaging. A success candidate will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and the team members to undertake independent and/or collaborative research and to lead on aspects of research strategy within the lab.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will be able to:

  1. Contribute both intellectually and experimentally to methodology theoretically development as part of this multidisciplinary team;
  2. Independently undertake advanced research in the relevant discipline area using, or developing, the appropriate methods and/or techniques;
  3. Lead and promote activities designed to develop collaborative research with research colleagues and support staff internally and to actively develop appropriate external contacts and networks relevant future collaboration and funding opportunities;
  4. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. or M.D. (preferably with 3-year experience in cancer immunology, immune engineering, organic chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, material science, biomedical or computational imaging). A detailed knowledge of immune-oncology, molecular imaging, or material science is mandatory. Past experience in designing and performing scientific work independently and collaboratively is a must, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience in various cell based assays (cell culture, ELISA, multi-color flow cytometry), animal handling, small animal imaging is highly preferred. Good communication skills in a work environment, motivation and drive to work hard, high ethics standard and level of integrity are most important.
