The University of Southampton is a research-intensive University, with annual research income in excess of £120 million. The Research Information and Systems (RIS) team, based in Research and Innovation Services, hosts a small team with a large focus on communicating and promoting the University’s research and enterprise activities via a combination of regular and bespoke media.
About the role
The postholder will be responsible for co-management of RIS’ communications activities. This will include conducting interviews with subject matter experts, and preparation of copy for our seasonal publication ‘Re:action’. In addition, the postholder will be engaging with various stakeholders to produce content focussed on the University’s Enterprise activities, via thematic, bespoke publications.
The role also includes responsibility for managing social media and internal channels and creating relevant content, e.g. LinkedIn, relevant corporate webpages and internal SharePoint sites.
They will also work collaboratively with colleagues across Faculties and within the University’s central communications and marketing teams on larger-scale communications projects, ensuring best practice and consistency throughout.
About you
We are looking for a dynamic, graduate qualified (or equivalent) individual with a proven track record in the following:
- Copy production, editing, proofing.
- Conducting and recording interviews with subject matter experts.
- Translation of complex concepts into easy to understand narrative.
- The development of productive working relationships both within and external to the organisation.
