Job Description

Applications are invited for the following full-time position in the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health:

Research Fellow in Public Health Evaluations

The Health Intervention and Policy Evaluation Research Centre (HIPER) (https://hiper.nus.edu.sg/) at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH), NUS, is seeking to hire an individual with relevant experience to lead and support work in the area of evaluations, community health and linkages with health services research.

The candidate will play a critical role in the development of the Centre’s growing research agenda to support health policy and services research in Singapore and the region, gaining the opportunity to work with leading experts and policy makers in the field. The successful candidate will be expected to perform research administration, conduct formative and evaluation-driven research and disseminate findings.

The role will require an ambitious self-starter who can engage with incoming briefs and help shape and construct deliverables in a timely manner. As a researcher of the Centre, you will be presented with various opportunities to further develop your skills to ensure personal growth in your career. The role benefits from exposure to many areas of public health ranging from evaluations of patient reported outcomes and experiences to evaluating national strategic plans. This will engage the post-holder in building professional networks across multiple agencies both in Singapore and beyond.

The post-holder will join an active and supportive team that enjoys working together, problem solving as a team and working on theory-driven yet applied, practical outputs that will influence population health outcomes.

Requirements:

Applicants are expected to have at least Doctorate degree from an established University, preferably in public health, social sciences with intermediate to advanced understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods.

The grade of appointment will be accorded based on qualifications and work experience.

Applicants with following experiences and skills are preferred:

  • Experience conducting qualitative research, including collection and analysis of focus group, interviews and other qualitative methods / data
  • Experience with multi- and mixed-methods research including quantitative programme evaluation designs
  • Good team-player, independent, enjoys working across disciplines and sectors
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-organised and meticulous
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications as well as data management and analysis using qualitative data software, preferably Atlas.ti and statistical software R
  • Adept at learning new software packages and online digital systems

HIPER will be establishing a new arm of evaluations consultancy and project work led by Dr Zoe Hildon and Dr Ian Ang. We are seeking two candidates in the current call who will report directly to Dr. Hildon and be embedded in the wider team.
