The Library Engagement and Innovation Division invites applications for a part-time permanent Digital Scholarship Senior Administrator, supporting the university educational and research ambition.

The Digital Scholarship and Innovation team supports innovation through library-faculty partnerships in the area of teaching and research and has recently received capital investment to expand the existing infrastructure providing further access to technologies that enable us to make and explore virtual worlds, scan and manipulate heritage objects, immerse ourselves in data visualisations, and much more.

As a Digital Scholarship Senior Administrator, you will be working within a small team, providing outstanding service to staff, students and Southampton's wider community using the Library’s digital collections and responding to queries about digital resource creation, format shift, copyright and intellectual property. You will also contribute to the management of equipment available to users in the digitisation lab, work independently to solve a range of problems and supervise routine activities, ensuring adherence to processes and quality standards.

We welcome applications from those with experience in similar roles in a research and education context, while we are also interested in candidates with a broad range of technical backgrounds and interests who are looking to develop their skills as a Digital Scholarship Senior Administrator in a library context. As you will instruct both staff and students on a range of digital humanities tools in support of research, learning and assessment, we are also looking for a candidate with good communication skills.

Familiarity working with technologies such as 3D printers, scanners or photogrammetry is desirable but not essential, as is previous experience working in a support or customer service role.

This post is offered on a part-time, permanent basis, 18 hours per week, working Monday to Friday with some flexibility in terms of work pattern, to be agreed between the hiring manager and the successful applicant.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Matthew Phillips (Digital Scholarship Manager) m.s.phillips@southampton.ac.uk
