Full-Time, Fixed-Term (3 years)

The Information Security Group (ISG) is seeking to recruit a Post-doctoral Researcher to model software evolution and build tools to help developers cope with it. The Post-doctoral Researcher will work alongside Dr. Santanu Dash and other software security researchers in the ISG on topics in software evolution, automatic software transformation and related fields. 

The fixed-term fulltime post is funded for 3 years by an EPSRC grant https://gow.epsrc.ukri.org/NGBOViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=EP/W015927/1 on investigating and reducing the impact of rapidly evolving libraries on maintainability and consequently, security of their clients. Applicants with a strong background in all areas of software security and/or software engineering are encouraged to apply.

Applicants should have already completed, or be close to completing, a PhD in a relevant discipline. Applicants should have excellent software development skills and an outstanding research track record in building tools to automate software engineering tasks such as software analysis or software transformation. Applicants should be able to demonstrate scientific creativity, research independence, and the ability to communicate their ideas effectively in written and verbal form.

ISG is one of the largest departments dedicated to information security in the world with over 20 core academic staff in the department. It consistently ranks amongst the top departments in the UK for the quality of its research outputs in Cyber Security (csrankings.org).  We work with many research partners in other departments and have circa 90 PhD students working on a wide range of security research, many of whom are fully funded through our Centre for Doctoral Training in Cyber Security, one of only four in the UK. We have a strong, vibrant, embedded and successful multi-disciplinary research profile spanning from software security to cryptography and social aspects of security. This vibrant environment incorporates visiting researchers, weekly research seminars, weekly reading groups, PhD seminars and mini conferences, the WISDOM group (Women in the Security Domain Or Mathematics) and we are proud of our collegial atmosphere and approach.
