We are pleased to invite applications for a Senior Lecturer on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology to lead the development and accreditation of the Systemic Introductory & Intermediate AFT accredited pathway which will commence in September 2023. The post is open to ambitious qualified systemic psychotherapists with a commitment to training and development of systemic skills for psychological practitioners. This post is newly created for a systemic psychotherapist (and ideally an accredited systemic supervisor) and is supported by funding from Health Education England.
The systemic pathway is an embedded course within the DClinPsy, which a small proportion of the DClinPsy cohort will undertake alongside their usual duties. It will be run in collaboration with psychological practitioners in NHS Departments across the North Thames Region as well as the other DClinPsy training courses (at University College London and the University of East London), and is intended to contribute towards meeting the strategic needs of the NHS in London for qualified clinical psychologists; specifically supporting the development of systemic psychotherapy competences during clinical psychology training.
In 2022 the RHUL DClinPsy Programme had 56 commissioned places per cohort through its contract with the HEE. This is a really exciting time for clinical psychology, with another substantial expansion of training, and the post offers an opportunity to diversify the course in line with current and future NHS priorities. The RHUL DClinPsy is a large well-respected training programme with an existing BABCP CBT pathway. The post-holder will join an innovative and supportive team of 18 clinical-academic staff with a range of expertise across child, adult, learning disability, health, older-adult and neuropsychology specialities.
The course sits within a vibrant Psychology Department, internationally recognised for world-class research and teaching - ranked 3rd in the UK for research in the last REF and with very strong ratings from our students for teaching (UK NSS). The Department has excellent facilities, including MRI, EEG, TMS, eye trackers, behavioural testing suites, and social and infant observation labs, as well as strong links with clinical organisations, government, industry, and charity affiliations. We are proud of our atmosphere of strong collegiality in the department, and we are highly committed to principles of equity and diversity.
This part-time post is offered 0.4 FTE (14 hours per week) for 12 months on a Professional Practice fixed term contract initially, but we would be happy to consider those wanting to undertake a secondment from the NHS. We offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package with generous annual leave and staff development opportunities.
The post is based in Egham, where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. Information about our existing research and teaching programmes can be found here: http://www.rhul.ac.uk/psychology/home.aspx
