Short Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Front-end Web Developer to develop web applications and solutions for adaptive learning systems to join the Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC). This position will initially be offered on a three-year contract.
TLC promotes excellence in teaching and learning through the design and implementation of innovative pedagogies; facilitation of Faculty development and training; scholarship of teaching & learning; and provides academic support for students whilst developing lifelong learning attributes in our graduates.
Job Description
As Front-end Web Developer, you will be proactive and crucial to the successful development and implementation of adaptive learning systems and web applications to augment the quality of teaching and learning within the university. You will be responsible for designing, developing and optimising the user interface and experience of the learning application, which will be browser and device agnostic. In addition, you will be creating learning materials and charts that are informative, interactive and engaging.
Job Requirements
To be considered for this position, it is essential that you:
- have a solid foundation of HTML 5, CSS 3 and Javascript (JS)
- have at least two years of experience in front-end web development with good debugging skills
- are familiar with JS frameworks and libraries (e.g., JQuery, React, Angular and/or Vue)
- have experience working with templates on CMS or LMS (e.g., Django, Drupal and/or Moodle)
- are able to use JS to interact with web REST APIs
- have experience with version control system (e.g., GIT and SVN)
- have strong communication and presentation skills
- have a collaborative and collegial approach to work
It would be desirable to know about/have:
- good understanding of SEO and metadata/tags
- Graphic and aesthetic design skills
- Server-side languages (e.g., PHP or Python)
- Database (e.g., MySQL, SQlite and MongoDB)
- Amazon Web Services
- Content creation skills (e.g., animation, sound and video editing skills)
