Job Description
The group of Wenhui Li at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), Singapore, is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the experimental project “Studying dynamics of Rydberg excitations”.
This experimental project is to study the dynamics of exciting Rydberg superatoms by an interaction enhanced absorption imaging technique based on electromagnetically induced transparency involving Rydberg states (Rydberg EIT). These investigations aim to address many open questions in regard to the nature and the dynamics of Rydberg excitations in the fully blockade regime of high atomic densities.
A successful candidate is expected to lead the efforts in conducting the above experimental project on an existing cold-atom apparatus. The capabilities of the apparatus include, among others, producing Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) and making multiple Rydberg excitations/EIT (also with the presence of microwaves). The candidate is expected to work with other senior/junior colleagues on experiments. This project will benefit from established expertise of the group in experimental cold Rydberg physics, from closely working with our theoretical collaborators, and from strong research and technical environment at CQT.
Job Requirements
Potential candidates are required to hold a PhD degree in experimental AMO physics, and should have extensive working experience in cold atoms/molecules and light-matter interaction experiments. Experience in cold Rydberg gases is highly desirable. Candidates’ expertise in the above fields should be proven with record of peer-reviewed publications and/or with strong recommendation of senior researchers working in these fields. Moreover, the candidates are required to have good communication skills in both spoken and written English.
More Information
A full CV; list of publications; a brief statement of research experience and interests (one page); names, academic positions, and electronic contacts of at least two referees; other documents upon request.
Interested applicants who fulfill the above requirements should send their inquiry and application to Wenhui Li at wenhui.li@nus.edu.sg . The position is immediately available, and applications are accepted until the position is filled.
