The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) aims to address current and emerging health challenges in Southeast Asia and more widely in Asia-Pacific. Working in collaboration with partners such as other academic institutions in the region, private sector partners, governments, policy makers, NGOs, industry and donors, the Institute seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen national health systems as well as better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.

The Innovation Science in Global Health core is one of the five core areas of focus within SDGHI. Its work is divided into three streams: -

  1. Integrate a global health focus within existing innovation programmes in SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC) to respond to major burdens-of-disease across Asia;
  2. Enable the adoption of innovations-at-scale by identifying and responding to systems-related requirements in Asia in close collaboration with regional partners; and
  3. Advance capacity for innovation science in Asia to address pressing global health challenges.

SDGHI’s Innovation Core priority initiatives include:

  1. Increasing the understanding of how AI and digital health solutions may be used to benefit Global Health and deployed as a tool to increase access and improved health outcomes for the population of the region.
  2. Conducting a landscape assessment of the use of AI in Global Health in Southeast Asia to better understand systems-related requirements for wider scale adoption together with our partners.
  3. Building a regional portfolio of innovation projects that we will be actively supporting, including frugal innovation projects, global surgery innovation, novel rapid diagnostic test and systems, innovation for maternal and new-born care, and service delivery innovation.

We are recruiting a Research Fellow to support and lead these efforts and initiatives. The selected candidate will report to the Lead, Innovation Science in Global Health, and perform a variety of project management, partner coordination, outreach, and education support activities to support the Core’s initiatives.
