The Faculty of Medicine is committed to improving the health of the population in the 21st Century. Our TRANSFoM  programme aims to deliver the structure and enablers to allow the Faculty to achieve its vision. As part of our Culture Workstream we are developing induction support to enable new researchers to smoothly integrate with the University.

A Project Officer is required to manage the creation of new induction resources and develop related processes so that new researchers in both substantive and honorary positions are smoothly welcomed to the Faculty.   

The Role 

The post-holder will engage with academic staff and colleagues from University Hospital Southampton to capture the requirements of a comprehensive ‘researcher induction’ pack.  They will then develop and deliver the new pack. Content of this pack will be determined during the project and could include; template emails: written documentation, and an intranet site or sites (via SharePoint). Previous experience of using SharePoint is not required as training will be provided.  

The third workstream will involve working with colleagues within the Faculty of Medicine to create processes to support the induction of new researchers and embed our new researcher induction pack.  

The post is offered on a part-time (17.5 hours per week) fixed-term basis, starting in March 2023 and ending on 31 July 2023.  There is no set working pattern for this post. The hours can we worked over three, four or five days.  

The post is based at Southampton General Hospital. The option to work from home one or more days per week can be arranged, subject to satisfactory completion of an induction period.

About You 

This is a unique opportunity to work on a discrete project to improve the experience of our research staff. Applicants should have an awareness of research within Higher Education, ideally within the Faculty of Medicine.  

The role will see the post-holder draw upon their research and project management skills. They will need to build relationships with relevant stakeholders and be able to operate with minimal supervision to progress the deliverables of this project.
