About the opportunity

The University's grounds are known for their local heritage and natural beauty. We have an excellent grounds team who manage the maintenance, repair and replacement of the University's landscape. We have an opportunity for an experienced Gardener to join the team and support this outstanding work. You will perform tasks associated with the maintenance and development of the University grounds. You will be ensuring that the University grounds are maintained to a high-quality standard, in a timely, cost effective manner to meet the needs of our students, staff and visitors.

Reporting to the Senior Grounds Officer, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • manage maintenance of the university grounds and campus sites in all horticulture and landscaping
  • oversight of any trades/contractors &/or horticultural specialists
  • assist in ensuring property, plant & WHS elements are maintained in pristine condition.

About you

  • certificate III Horticulture (required)
  • C class drivers' licence, and ability to drive a manual vehicle (essential)
  • demonstrated experience in horticulture such as garden, Turf or landscape maintenance
  • ability to design/ restructure garden environments and maintain automated irrigation systems
  • excellent communication and interpersonal
  • ability to work flexible hours, in various locations
  • sound knowledge of computers.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
