Job Description

The Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore is a multi-disciplinary institute committed to developing new paradigms for biomedical research by focusing on the quantitative analysis of dynamic functional processes. Through quantitative biophysical approaches, we address major problems in biomedical sciences including pathogenesis (from bacterial to cancer), tissue regeneration and function.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the research group of Dr. Gianluca Grenci at the Mechanobiology Institute, NUS to contribute to the development and optimization of micro-fabricated elements and microfluidic devices for cell imaging.

Suitable candidates should preferably have knowledge and proven skills in micro-fabrication processes, with prior experience working in clean rooms. Experience with designing and characterizing the functioning of micro-fluidic devices is a plus. The successful candidate will also be involved in the management of the lab both in technical and administrative aspects (such as maintenance of lab inventory and safety management). Excellent communication skills are also required, and writing scientific reports both for internal documentation and for publication are a component of this job position.

In sum, responsibilities will include:

  • Masks design and fabrication
  • Devices’ microfabrication and characterization
  • Lab inventory and safety management
  • Technical/Scientific reports writing

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience in clean room work
  • Organized, meticulous, able to work together in a team as well as independently
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
