Short Description

The Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), an autonomous institute of the Singapore University of Social Sciences, is at the forefront of building capabilities and continuing professional development for an effective, innovative and responsive TAE sector. We have various positions open now for recruitment.

In this position, the appointee will be working under the Business Development unit, supporting the division and responsible for the business development and sales strategies leading to improved market position and business growth of the institute.

Job Description

Assess the industry landscape

  • Analyse emerging industry trends and assess client needs to identify expansion opportunities
  • Keep abreast of the impact of potential government initiatives and regulatory changes on the industry and organization. 
  • Analyse and assess competitors' performance to develop the Institute’s market position.  
  • Build strong industry networks across clients, vendors, partners, and collaborators.

Drive business development and sales

  • Support in formulating sales strategies and priorities in line with the institute’s business objectives.
  • Source, cultivate, and close sales through consultative selling and establishment of partnerships.
  • Manage records of sales, revenue, and other important data.
  • Work closely with instructional designers to co-create new services and products for enterprises' needs.

Service accounts

  • Generate organic growth in existing accounts. 
  • Analyse stakeholder needs and priorities.
  • Cultivate strong mid-long term stakeholder relationships.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and feedback alongside the project management & administration team.
  • Work closely with the project management & administration team in the handling of enterprise needs, projects, and corporate runs.

Any other duties, including cross-divisional projects or events, that may be assigned by the management from time to time to meet the needs of the organisation and changing environment. 

Job Requirements

  • At least 4-5 years of relevant experience in service sales and/or consulting, preferably in the adult education sector.
  • Tertiary qualifications, preferably in the area of business, marketing, or mass communication.
  • ACTA and/or ACLP qualification would be advantageous.
  • Conversant in business and learning & development practice and terminologies.
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure and tight timelines to drive numbers and ensure project commencement. 
  • Good negotiating, networking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at mid to senior levels
  • Good communication and writing skills; meticulous and detail-oriented.
  • Effective as both a team player and individual contributor. 
  • Customer-centric and service-oriented in mindset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The successful appointee will be based in IAL Campus located at Lifelong Learning Institute next to Paya Lebar MRT station.
