We are seeking to recruit appropriately qualified staff to join the vibrant Children and Young People’s Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) team to contribute to our portfolio delivery and research.

Description for Internal Candidates

Working as part of a team of academic, technical and administrative colleagues to facilitate learning of clinical skills to the highest quality, to facilitate students/programme through supporting teaching and assessment and associated academic administration. You will deliver predesigned sessions following the CYP IAPT timetables using a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students. You will alsosupport marking or other assessment activity within the delivered session where the marking does not contribute to a grade for the module and is to a pre-defined problem sheet or outcome.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 therefore the successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

CYP IAPT is located in the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. We have been working alongside Health Education England (HEE), NHS England (NHSE) and clinical services to improve the availability and effectiveness of mental health interventions for children, young people and their families. The University has been a part of this national initiative for over 10 years and is one of 12 training providers that lead and support this activity across the country. Northumbria has established itself as the lead partner for the North East, Yorkshire and Humber region. CYP IAPT has grown steadily from inception in a number of different areas: we have seen an increase in the number of partners we work with; an increase in our portfolio of programmes; an increase in trainee numbers and an increase in our regional and national reputation. Most importantly we continue to increase the impact and contribution we have made to the transformation of mental health services to Children and Young People within the region. This is supported by continuing collaboration with HEE, feedback from our partners and trainees, and regional and national research.

Our portfolio of programmes currently includes: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Systemic Family Practice, Education Mental Health Practitioner, Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner, Senior Wellbeing Practitioner, Supervision, Leadership and Enhanced Evidence Based Practice (in the main offered at Postgraduate level) and we have to date delivered training to over 1,300 trainees in the region. We also offer continuing professional development to qualified trainees. We regularly review our portfolio in line with regional /national workforce development demand.
