The Marine Microbiomics laboratory under the supervision of Prof. Shady Amin in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a postdoctoral associate to work on metabolomics of host-microbiome systems, with a potential focus on human-microbiome interactions or marine organisms.

The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project to enhance identification and quantification of metabolites involved in host-microbiome symbioses and how these metabolites contribute to adaptation to climate change and disease. Our laboratory has access to state-of-the-art mass spectrometry facility that includes a Bruker FT-ICRMS, two Thermo Orbitrap mass spectrometers, qToF, triple-quad MS and GCMS. We combine the use of metabolomics with genomics and transcriptomics on model organisms in the laboratory and on complex environmental samples. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate and undergraduate students.

Applicants must have a PhD in chemistry, biology, oceanography, or related fields and must have extensive experience with metabolomics data and operation of mass spectrometers. Excellent experimental and in silico skills relevant to the project (in particular bioinformatics for metabolomic data analysis) are essential.
