Role Description

Finance welcomes applications from experienced accountants who are committed to excellent customer service, to join the Research Monitoring and Claims team providing a high-quality, professional and proactive service to our internal and external stakeholders.

About the Role

The post holder will lead a small team responsible for post award research, consultancy and large project accounting for parts of the University.  This includes the production of all invoices and claims, preparing for and dealing with contract audits, reviewing contract progress and highlighting variances and issues.  The post holder will also assist with the financial budgeting and forecasting of research, consultancy and large project income and expenditure.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the staff reporting into this post are customer focused and that they follow the principals of “enabling”, “delivering” and “assuring” in their day to day duties.

About You

You will be a CCAB qualified accountant with significant experience in a complex organisation, preferably Higher Education. The post holder must have experience of monitoring of performance against budget in relation to significant funding or contract monitoring or other similar. Experience in budget setting, forecasting and variance analysis is also essential.
