The Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Communications Engineering, Deutsche Telekom Chair of Communication Networks offers a project position as

Research Associate (m/f/x)

starting as soon as possible. The position is limited until October 31, 2025. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG).

Tasks: You will be involved in research activities in the area of 5G campus networks: Research and implementation of the research results and the 3GPP specification for integration and communication between 5G mobile networks and Time Sensitive Networks (TSN). The technical foundations for the communication of both networks with each other are to be implemented on real practical examples. This includes the construction and commissioning of testbeds under laboratory conditions, the development of the requirements as well as the research, the design and the implementation of the TSN translators on the 5G network side. The developed solution will explore remote control use cases for industrial communication. The philosophy of our team is "Research that matters". Therefore, it is expected that beyond theoretical familiarization, practical exploitation of the research results will be programmed and deployed in our 5G campus network. Your work will be beneficial to our academic team mates and project partners and for many industry members who are involved in projects with our team.
 

Requirements: university degree in electrical or computer engineering; knowledge of the basic principles of communication networks and of network coding as well as their mathematical foundations; english in spoken and written; ability and willingness to work independently, conceptually and scientifically; interest in practice-oriented, interdisciplinary cooperation with partners from research and industry; programming knowledge (Matlab, Python, C, C ++). Knowledge of german is desirable. Knowledge in the area of energy-efficient communication or storage of information is also helpful.
