About the Role

We are seeking a Research Manager in Public Health to join our College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University. The Research Manager will be responsible for coordinating activities of the research program, including budgeting and financial reporting, managing sub-grants, and assisting with the submission of grants. Promoting the values of the program, you will support the success of the projects by maintain effective working relationships with external and internal stakeholders, including key industry partners. Identifying appropriate research opportunities for the project is an important aspect of the role including grants, awards, nominations, and conferences. Coordination of travel requirements for local, interstate, and international research meetings and conferences may also be required.

About You

To be successful as a Research Manager you will be a high-level communicator with diplomacy and discretionary skills, who is able to develop strong working relationships with a diverse range of people. You understand financial and project management matters, being able to allocate resources and report accurate forecasts as necessary. You help drive a strong and positive working culture in a project team, aiming to achieve team goals in a complex environment of competing demands.

Furthermore, you will also demonstrate:

  • A degree with relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • High level initiative, with experience managing workloads and negotiations in complex and sensitive situations.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgement and problem solve.
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Teams, web-based software applications, and records management applications.
  • Solid understanding of funding body rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in adhering to workplace policies and procedures in the areas of work health safety, equity, diversity and promoting a respectful workplace culture.
