Key Responsibilities

• Primary scope of work is support research and industrial project work undertaken by the SPICE or RaPID department.
• Carry out Risk Assessment of projects and labs, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations
• Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
• Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure that the project can meet the milestones adhering to the stipulated timeline
• Mentor students during practical learning activities to enhance their technical problem-solving skills. The learning activities are mainly laboratory classes.
• Any other duties assigned.

Job Requirements

• A good degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications like registered PE would be advantageous.
• Have at least 3-6 years of working experience in mechanical design, systems design or related area in mechatronics would be preferred.
• Experience in following areas are highly desirable:
  o Mechanical systems development and integration
  o Material and components selection including working knowledge with integration and selection of components/systems such as actuators, pumps, hydraulics system
  o CAD software such as SolidWorks, Rhino 3D and PTC Creo
  o Prototyping and fabrication. Simulation of mechanical design will be an added advantage.
• Material testing and material properties knowledge will be advantageous
• Working knowledge of control and PLC systems will be advantageous
• Experience with software such as Ansys and Abaqus will be advantageous
• Extensive experience and knowledge of industry practices to bring industry perspective to SIT.
• Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems.
• Good supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment.
• Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.
