We are seeking to appoint a continuing Lecturer (A or B) in Ruminant Production and Health in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences.

The School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences seeks to appoint an emerging teaching and research leader in ruminant production and health. The appointee will be expected to deliver teaching in ruminant husbandry, physiology, health and wellbeing. The appointee will also be supported to establish and maintain a research program in their discipline and contribute to interdisciplinary research within the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, the Davies Livestock Research Centre and wider academic community.

The appointee will deliver and support teaching of ruminant production, health and welfare within the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, and will be supported to develop a research program within their discipline.

Based at the picturesque Roseworthy Campus, the appointee will be supported to develop and introduce effective and innovative approaches to teaching which ensure the work readiness of our graduates. Close alignment with industry stakeholders and producers, as well as the Davies Livestock Research Centre and the SA Drought and Resilience Innovation Hub, provides academics within the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences the support they need to establish and maintain both innovative and applied research programs.

To be successful you will need:

  • A PhD or equivalent professional and industry experience in the field of ruminant productivity and/or health, especially sheep.
  • Commitment and ability to teach ruminant husbandry, physiology and health to undergraduate and post graduate students.
  • Strong interest in research in ruminant productivity, health and/or welfare, including the ability to communicate research outcomes to a broad audience and through a diversity of media.
  • Good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with students, researchers, professional staff and external stakeholders.
  • A strong sense of collegiality, and ability to uphold the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, within the School community and throughout the University.
