Opportunity
The Children’s Cancer Foundation and My Room Chair in Childhood Cancer is a new academic leadership position made possible by generous funding from the Children’s Cancer Foundation and My Room in collaboration with key institutional members of the VCCC Alliance including the University of Melbourne, The Royal Children’s Hospital, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. We are seeking a leading clinician-scientist or a translational paediatric cancer specialist for this role to drive research, teaching/training and clinical care delivery in personalised, “precision” medicine in paediatric cancer, including immunotherapy.
The position will report to the Head of the Department of Paediatrics, Melbourne Medical School, and will be expected to make innovative and distinctive contributions in the areas of academic leadership, research, teaching and learning. Highest quality research and clinical facilities and support will be provided to ensure that the appointee delivers on the expectation to drive and participate in collaborative activities across the Parkville precinct and beyond. The Melbourne Children’s Campus is a fully integrated academic health centre bringing together the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and the University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics in a single, purpose-built and multi-award-winning campus in the city of Melbourne.

About you
You will possess;
- A research doctorate
- A distinguished career of international standing in the field of paediatric oncology
- Experience in strategic leadership in the development of a clinical research program or similar
- Capability to foster academic achievement and clinical innovation in others
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders and identify and exploit new opportunities in education, research and the provision of services
- A superior publication record and solid success in obtaining in obtaining external peer-reviewed research grants
- Ability to provide advocacy for children and adolescent health and wellbeing
