An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operational Support Administrator at the National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) for the University of Southampton. You will provide professional, operational assistance to the NBIC Chief Executive Officer and Southampton Co-Director.
In response to the biofilm impact on the worldwide economy, UKRI has funded NBIC which is an Innovation Knowledge Centre (IKC). NBIC aim is to connect scientists specialising in Biofilms across the UK, and to provide a mechanism for industrial partners to explore their unmet needs with our researchers. This operational support role will be key to assist the leadership team in carrying out daily administrative duties. The role will include acting as the first point of contact for a range of enquiries, organising meetings and workshops, financial administration, liaising with external partners and senior staff and colleagues across the University and the National Biofilms Innovation Centre, and minute taking.
You will be an excellent team player with a proven ability to work proactively. You will be well organised and adaptable taking a positive approach to managing a busy and complex workload. Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills are required as is commitment to providing an excellent service.
You ideally would have previous work experience within an administrative/ customer service role and be able to use your own initiative, independently problem-solve and manage your own time effectively, with minimum supervision. You will have strong IT skills and be a competent user of Microsoft Office and similar software.
The role offers excellent development opportunities for an individual wishing to gain experience and skills working within an Innovation and Knowledge Centre and in operational business support roles.
