The Board of Electors invite applications from exceptional individuals for the Professorship of Education (2008), located in the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will be a world leading figure who has made original contributions in the field of pedagogy, learning and teacher education. The appointment of this Professorship is available as soon as possible.
We are seeking candidates who have an outstanding research record of international stature and who have significantly contributed to all of the following areas: the advancement of knowledge in relation to initial and continuing teacher education; the pedagogical, assessment and/or curricular practices of teachers and teacher educators; and innovations in learning and teaching at the school and teacher education levels.
Candidates from any disciplinary background, as well as those working with diverse methodological approaches are encouraged to apply for this post. In addition to research excellence, the candidate will also have a demonstrable track record of teaching and supervision across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including initial and continuing teacher education programmes.
They will possess exceptional interpersonal, communication and inclusive leadership skills. Candidates will also show how they promote their field of knowledge both nationally and internationally, to have impact on policy and practice. They will demonstrate that they have supported the development of early career researchers and practitioner researchers, and have a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
Standard professorial duties include research and scholarship as well as teaching, supervision, examinations and administration. The Professor will be based in Cambridge. A competitive salary will be offered.
