to be filled at the earliest possible date with a four-year contract. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment relationship will be extended to a total of six years.

Evaluation criteria mutually agreed upon when the position is accepted will form the basis of the evaluation procedure. Essential elements of the evaluation will be the scientific success in the form of subject-relevant publications both in national and international scientifically well-recognized journals, active participation in relevant national and international conferences, development of innovative courses in the area of urban geography with positively evaluated teaching performances in both German and English, and the successful acquisition of third-party research funds (DFG, BMBF et. al.).

You (m/f/x) will represent the field of urban geography in the geography study programs (bachelor’s program, master’s program and teacher training program) as well as in teaching obligations in other study programs of the Faculty of Environmental Science. Your tasks include the further development and internationalization of these study programs. We particularly expect your willingness to acquire DFG projects as well as your interest to participate in collaborative research. Complementary to existing competencies, the orientation should be on participative and collaborative research methods. In addition, we strive for active cooperation with partner institutions in DRESDEN-concept, a research alliance of TU Dresden with local non-university research and cultural institutions. Your willingness to teach in English is a prerequisite, as is your willingness to actively participate in academic self-administration.

We are looking for you as a personality with an international scientific track record in the field of ecological, social, and economic sustainability and resilience in urban contexts. This can be demonstrated by your publications, your international networking and your results of the teaching evaluation. Your research achievements possess a high potential for further development. We wish for an additional focus on future studies, initial experiences in autonomous teaching, and first successes in acquiring third-party funding. Applicants must fulfill the employment qualification requirements of § 63 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
