Do you have experience in the Construction Education Sector? Do you want to be part of the team developing a multimillion-pound Centre for Sustainable Construction?

University College Birmingham’s School of Engineering, Digital and Sustainable Construction in partnership with The University of Warwick is developing a cutting-edge, carbon-neutral site right in the heart of Birmingham.

From September 2023 we will be training the construction workforce of the future in areas where skills demand outstrips supply. We are offering a new suite of College Construction Courses at levels 1 – 3.

We will be teaching both traditional construction (Brick, Carpentry) and building services skills (Plumbing, Electrical Installation) alongside evolving skills such as modular building, modern methods of construction, green technologies and retrofit.

Using only the best resources and high-tech kit in the sector, you will have one of the most inspiring environments to work in alongside outstanding academic support from across the sector.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join us at the outset. You will need to be at the top of your game with relevant experience in teaching in Further Education (College or Training Provider) and have the skills to support a team to develop. Industry Experience in a relevant field is also important.

You will have direct input into co-creating an exciting curriculum with industry partners and be the face of UCB Construction as well as leading on student recruitment and outreach work. You will work with other Senior Lecturers, the Head of Department and our Executive Dean to ensure our facilities can only be described as world class and produce work-ready students that can springboard into high value careers.

We expect that the ideal candidate for this role can demonstrate a commitment to self-development through their CPD record and that they are keen to spend time back in industry to ensure currency and innovation is ongoing.
