About the Role

Swinburne University of Technology’s Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Fast Radio Bursts to join their team. 

Under the guidance of A/Prof. Ryan Shannon and others, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to use state of the art fast radio burst data sets to undertake their research. The successful applicant should be able to work both independently and also to draw on the knowledge and expertise of external collaborators. 

About You  

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Advanced knowledge of a high-level computing languages (e.g., python, C, C++, cuda) in a Unix environment   
  • A sound knowledge of fast radio burst astronomy
  • Demonstrated ability to write high-impact papers  
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and advanced computing  

Qualifications

  • An earned doctoral qualification in neutron star, fast radio burst, or computational astrophysics, or a closely related data science field where advanced computing and statistics were essential
