Post-doctoral Research Fellow, School of English, Drama & Film

Applications are invited for a temporary part-time 0.5fte post of a Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 2 within School of English, Drama & Film.

The Cultural Analytics cluster in UCD Insight is part of a coherent research ecosystem. It combines UCD's strengths in cultural criticism and social network analysis, traditional humanities and new computational approaches, established and early-stage researchers. This postdoctoral role will support both VICTEUR and the Jacob Diaries projects.

VICTEUR (European Migrants in the British Imagination: Victorian and Neo-Victorian Culture) is a 5-year project funded by an Advanced Grant from the European Research Council. The Jacob Diaries project is a collaboration between Insight in UCD and DCU, UCD School of English and DCU School of History and Geography which aims to demonstrate the benefits of interdisciplinary approaches and the uses of machine learning to open up historical manuscripts to new forms of analysis.

This is an advanced academic research role, building on your prior experience as a post-doctoral fellow, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.

The primary purpose of the role is to develop new or advanced research skills and competences, on the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications and scholarly dissemination, the development of funding proposals, and the supervision and mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:

• Assist the PI and the PRI lead in Cultural Analytics in the development and management of Cultural Analytics research in Insight, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary initiatives and co-ordinated planning across the diversity of Cultural Analytics projects
•  Contribute to publications and conferences (e.g. co-edited books, conference panels, digital resources) as appropriate to the successful candidate's research specialism
• Assist in the delivery of advanced workshops and in a variety of research dissemination activities
• Assist in the preparation of reports to relevant funding agencies e.g. ERC, SFI*

PD2 Salary Range: 48,813 - 53,091 per annum pro rata.

Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
