Job Description:

The School of Biological Sciences at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow.

The successful candidate will be a highly productive, ambitious and collaborative member of the research project/team for the TITAN project, assisting in the planning and delivery of the research activity, specifically in the areas of environmental life cycle analysis and human nutrition.

The post is a critical role, and as such, successful applicants will have responsibilities in independent research, planning, collaborations, and outreach.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have: 

  • Obtained or be about to obtain a relevant PhD (such as in Food, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences/Engineering)
  • At least 3 years’ relevant research experience to include:
    • Undertaking research in the area of environmental/sustainability assessment, sustainable food production and/or sustainable agriculture
    • A proven track record of analyses, critical evaluations, and interpretations of data relevant to the research project
    • Working effectively as part of a research team and in the development and promotion of the research theme
  • Experience of environmental assessment and life cycle analysis (LCA) techniques
  • Experience of analysis using life cycle assessment software, e.g. SimaPro.

This post is fixed term for 38 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
