About the opportunity

The Senior Administration Officer Rural, supports the Faculty of Medicine and Health, through the Rural Clinical Schools, to achieve strategic aims and University obligations as they relate to rural and regional activities, including Federally funded and other programs. The position, based at the Rural Clinical School (Northern Rivers) will provide administrative and project support for strategic activities across all Rural Clinical Schools under the direction of the Centre Manager, Rural Clinical School (Northern Rivers) and broad oversight of the Associate Director, Faculty Strategy & Research Partnerships. There will be an expectation that the incumbent will undertake visits between the Rural and Remote sites (Dubbo, Orange, Broken Hill).

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • manage formal reporting requirementsand project support for strategic rural and regional activities
  • ensurereporting data is aligned with business needs, established procedures and any parameters for Federally funded grants
  • ensure the appropriate coordination of meetings, including pan rural governance committees
  • maintain detailed knowledge of Federally funded grant/program contracts
  • undertake ad-hoc projects.

  • well-developed negotiation, conflict resolution, relation building and influencing skills and experience dealing with and understanding a wide range of stakeholders and their competing needs.
  • effective and tactful communication skills (written and verbal) and highly developed formal business writing skills
  • relevant tertiary qualifications in Business Administration
  • administrative experience in a tertiary organization, with working knowledge of academic institutions
  • experience interpreting budgets, income, and expenditure statements.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
