We are looking to employ someone with an interest in CBT to undertake a part-time fixed-term Research Assistant Psychologist role. This post will support the exciting expansion of the specialised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) pathway at Surrey, which has been accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). This specialist pathway runs alongside the PsychD in Clinical Psychology, to enable a subgroup of trainees to be eligible for BABCP Level 2 accreditation upon graduating from the course. The University of Surrey is one of the leading courses at the forefront of Clinical Psychology programmes who have developed such a pathway. 

The post holder will work closely with the CBT Pathway Lead and various stakeholders, including the wider course team. The successful applicant will be involved in supporting academic and clinical aspects of the pathway. The programme team have been actively working with colleagues to develop ways to decolonise the curriculum. This post offers an opportunity to join the team to contribute to how we change CBT training and practice to reflect the needs of our communities locally and nationally. In addition to this, the post holder will have opportunities to support service evaluation activities related to the pathway and the dissemination of these projects.

The PsychD Clinical Psychology Programme is also advertising another Research Assistant role 0.4 FTE (ref: 086222) so there are two new exciting roles available to support the team in delivering innovative contemporary initiatives on the programme. This is being advertised as a part time role but if you are interested in applying for both roles so as to make this a full time position please state this clearly on your application. 

Applicants will typically need to have a 2.1 degree in psychology, be confident in the use of quantitative and qualitative research or evaluation methodologies as well as self-assurance in their written and oral communication skills so that they are able to engage in sensitive topics of conversations,and liaise within and outside the programme. The posts will provide an opportunity to work with a team of applied psychologists with a range of specialist interests and expertise who respect and value one another, are advocates for lifelong learning, and embrace change.
