About the School of Health Sciences - Nursing
Nursing was established as a discipline within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences in 1996. Since its inception, the philosophy of nursing at The University of Melbourne is that clinical practice and practice-based research are integral to the educational preparation of all nurses at all levels of professional practice. Our qualifying degree is the Master of Nursing Science and is open to graduates from a range of undergraduate degree programs. Our department continues to offer a wide range of specialist and advanced practice level courses and graduate research degrees . Globally we are recognized for the quality of the research training offered and the strong clinical focus of the nursing research programs.
About the Role
The Lecturer in Nursing will contribute to the development and delivery of the curriculum with a strong focus on the development of evidence-based professional practice in acute and complex care. The Lecturer in Nursing will participate in the Department of Nursing strategic activities by engaging in the scholarship of learning and teaching and the translation of research evidence to curricula. A key focus of the role will be the supporting the development of knowledge, attitudes and skills required to deliver safe and effective nursing care against national accreditation standards and benchmarks.
- Coordination of online learning and face-to-face subject delivery
- Leading subject assessment design, moderation and marking for award degree subjects
- Contributing to the review and development of curricula
- Support the scheduling and implementation of clinical placement projects
- Support the scheduling and implementation of clinical labs and simulation training
- Participating in, and contributing to, a vibrant, positive and reflective team environment
- Promoting the development of the scholarship of teaching and learning
You will demonstrate excellence in teaching, learning and scholarships within the discipline of nursing. You will bring your highly developed interpersonal skills with a student-centred approach and can show initiative and innovation, particularly in the presentation of information. You will demonstrate a proactive reflexive teaching practice through seeking guidance from senior teaching staff and student feedback. You will possess a demonstrate willingness to participate in a new and vigorous team and the ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently
You will also have:
- Registered Nurse (Division 1) Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency
- A Master’s degree in advanced clinical nursing or related masters level degree in health (minimum)
- Record of teaching and professional achievement in clinical nursing
- Capacity to make a significant contribution to the development of curriculum and delivery of educational programs using online and blended modes of delivery in specialty nursing practice
- Apply contemporary evidence-based understanding of adult learning to teaching practice and curriculum design and delivery.
