A position is available for a PhD or a Postdoc to work with Prof.Mahmoud SAKR in the Data Science Lab in the Engineering School of Brussels. The project involves the design and implementation of compressed data models for mobility data (GPS trajectories, etc), with the goal of speeding up the processing with bounded loss of accuracy. Methods will include novel machine/deep learning algorithms, computational geometry, and big data management. This work will be conducted within a Horizon Europe project, in close collaboration with 20 prominent academic, industry, and government partners.
The position can start in January 2023 or as soon as it is filled after.
Key Qualifications:
You are a Ph.D or a Postdoc candidate who is willing to publish at top-tier conferences, such as VLDB, SigSpatial, MDM, EDBT, and to develop high-impact open-source systems. The qualifications are:
- excellent skills in programming
- M.Sc. or Ph.D in computer science. Applicants with degrees in statistics and physics are more than welcome
- knowledge in Databases, and Parallel / Distributed Systems
- excellent written and oral communication skills in English
