The University of Wollongong’s School of Humanities and Social Inquiry (HSI) consists of a collection of Disciplines, including Philosophy, History, Sociology, Politics, Indigenous Studies, Cultural Studies, and Languages and Linguistics. The School is home to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of International Studies, and the Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics degrees. The Discipline of Politics and International Studies has strengths in critical political economy, development studies, and security studies.

This is a teaching intensive position however the appointee will also contribute to governance, research and graduate supervision within the School’s Bachelor of International Studies and Bachelor of Arts (International Relations) programs with a possibility of the Master of International Relations program.

Candidates must have a strong record of research and be committed to high quality teaching. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in International Relations, Political Science, or an equivalent field by the closing date for applications. The area of specialisation should align with the existing research strengths of the Politics and International Studies discipline and have the capacity to teach subjects in one or more of the following areas: development studies; international security; international organizations and global governance; or a geographic or regional specialization including with respect to the United States; as well as introductory subjects in international studies.

This position is primarily located at the Wollongong Campus however also requires teaching at South Western Sydney Campus.

This position will be offered at Level A or B depending on level of experience.
