You will join our Department in one of the strongest and largest Schools of Engineering within the UK. You will oversee the Human Factors Group (HFG) which is part of the Transportation Research Group (TRG), one of the UK’s longest established and leading centres for engineering and human factors-related transport teaching and research, based at the Boldrewood Innovation Campus.

Within this environment we will support you to further develop your academic career while you play a pivotal role in enhancing our research strength. 

We are looking for individuals with interests that 

• make use of facilities eg driving simulator, instrumented hybrid car, instrumented bicycle and Virtual Reality Cave 
• develop facilities in physiological measures for data collection and analysis
• apply quantitative methods for understanding human performance  
• apply sociotechnical methods and approaches to understand system interaction across a variety of transportation domains (road, rail, maritime, aviation)
• design and evaluate future transport systems
• want to work in a collaborative team environment, with a track record of mentoring and developing the careers of more junior staff

To make the most of this exciting role, you will need a PhD (or equivalent professional qualifications and experience) in a relevant area of human factors engineering along with a track-record of published research. You’ll have a proven ability to develop innovative research proposals and attract significant research funding.  Highly organised, with strong communication skills, you’ll be ready to manage and motivate others.
