Job Description:

The School of Arts, English and Languages (AEL) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Assistant. The successful applicant will assist with, and contribute to, research on the Northern Ireland Place-Name Project (NIPNP). The project is concerned with the origins and meanings of local place-names, the majority of which originated in the Irish language.  

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have: 

  • A first-class honours degree in Irish language and literature.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the operational requirements for a successful research project.
  • Experience with information technology.
  • Experience of writing up research findings in academic format.
  • Fluency in Irish commensurate with age and stage.

This is a fixed term post, available for 12 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
