Applications are invited for a temporary, specified purpose post of a Data Entry Assistant within National Virus Reference Laboratory.
Applications are invited for the temporary role of Data Entry Assistant in the NVRL SARS-CoV-2 satellite laboratory. Following interviews, a panel will be formed from which future opportunities may be offered. This is a temporary post. The National Virus Reference Laboratory (NVRL) plays an important role in the Irish Health Services as the principal diagnostic and reference service for clinicians investigating virus infections.
The NVRL currently offers a repertoire of over 130 tests for the diagnosis of at least 45 different pathogens, and performs in excess of 900,000 tests annually. Since the onset of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the NVRL has played a pivotal role in the national testing response. In order to increase laboratory testing capacity for SARS-CoV-2, the NVRL will operate a stand-alone SARS-CoV-2 testing laboratory at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), Backweston Laboratory Complex, Youngs Cross, Ballymadeer, Celbridge, Co. Kildare.
In order to facilitate delivery of the required service, staff are expected to operate on a shift pattern over a 7-day period. The main purpose of the post is to ensure a rapid turnaround of SARS-CoV-2 results to the users of the service by prompt registration of patient details onto the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in accordance with procedures. The position requires accurate data entry skills of confidential information in a timely manner. Strong attention to detail is required.
