Nutrition and Dietetics has a proud heritage at the University of Sydney, being taught for more than five decades and consistently achieving ERA research rankings well above world standards. The Discipline has recently joined the prestigious Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery (Sydney Nursing School) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. The School is currently ranked #1 in Australia and #12 in the World 2022 QS Subject Ranking in Nursing.
The University is seeking to employ a Level B or Level C Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design, and evaluation within the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, taking responsibility for the domain of Food Service Management in institutions caring for vulnerable populations.
This is an exciting opportunity to teach in this area of dietetics and requires the academic to demonstrate specialised skills and knowledge in Food Service Management.
Our teaching encourages the use of innovative methods using communication technologies and social media. The incumbent will work within the Susan Wakil Health Building, a purpose-built facility, boasting state-of-the-art simulation rooms, and an array of other specialty spaces and equipment for nursing and allied health students, and research in the Charles Perkins Centre, which is internationally acknowledged for cutting-edge multidisciplinary research in nutrition.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation within the School/Faculty while continuing to build your research contribution
- take responsibility for research and teaching in the domain of Food Service Management in institutions caring for vulnerable populations
- be responsible for the unit of study coordination and overseeing the food practical sessions
- coordinate and contribute to additional units of study and curriculum design and develop research collaborations that will ultimately result in knowledge or technology transfer leading to commercialisation, improved policy or practice, and/or enhancements to industry, the profession, or the community.
- PhD in a relevant field
- must be an Accredited Practising Dietitian with Dietitians Australia
- must be developing, or have an existing network of dietitians employed in the related domain
- developing a research profile evidenced by original, high-quality, and independent research in the discipline or area of expertise (Level B)
- developed research profile evidenced by original, high-quality, and independent research in the discipline or area of expertise, with global recognition (Level C)
- developed knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the discipline and higher education sector
- strong experience in food management services in health organizations/ institutions - aged care and or hospital setting
- deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by participation in team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings.
