About the Role

In this role you will assist the Coordinator of the South Australian Neurological Tumour Bank (SANTB) with the ongoing operational activities of the SANTB located within Flinders Medical Centre, Bedford Park.

The role will principally involve the coordination, collection, processing, and management of biospecimens and clinical data and will involve liaising with clinicians and nursing staff; as well as the University research community, including students, academic and professional staff.

More specifically, you will:

  • Collect and document donor consents, collect and catalogue specimens from surgery or pathology and process specimens for storage.
  • Ensure that tissues are processed and stored under optimal conditions for use in research.
  • Maintain the SANTB database supporting biospecimen and clinical annotation of stored tissue samples.
  • Maintain liquid nitrogen Dewars located in the Flinders Medical Centre and Royal Adelaide Hospital operating theatres

About You

You will be diligent and proactive to ensure the support you provide meets the requirements of the role. You will bring a collegial and collaborative work ethic to contribute effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating an ability to work independently. You will have strong interpersonal and communication to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Please note, to be successful in this role a current driver’s license is required.
