Do you have enviable knowledge of a subject area aligned with Finance plus an outstanding track record of research projects and recent REF-able research output? Are you looking for a challenging role in an environment that is open, vibrant and welcomes new ideas? Then ‘Be the Change’, follow your passion and join the University of East London as Associate Professor in Finance.

These are exciting times at the University as, under our transformational 10-year strategy, Vision 2028, we’re committed to providing students with the skills necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world, including increasing the diversity of the talent pipeline, particularly for Industry 4.0 jobs. Our pioneering and forward-thinking vision is set to make a positive and significant impact to the communities we serve too and inspire our staff and students to reach their full potential. This is your chance to be part of that journey.

A key member of our Royal Docks School of Business and Law team, you’ll be responsible for leading and developing the School’s work in Finance in relation to research, consultancy and income generation, as well as taught courses. What’s more, as an academic leader within the subject cluster, you’ll play a leading role in shaping the School’s strategy for the promotion of research, learning and teaching in the field and obtaining funding for research and knowledge exchange activities.

Teaching, advising and assessing students will be an important aspect of the role too, as will participating in faculty and university-wide governance and development activities. Put simply, you’ll provide leadership and expertise that will significantly influence the output of the School, contribute directly to the level of success we enjoy and raise our profile in the research related field of Finance.

To succeed, you’ll need to be relevantly qualified, with substantial experience in research and teaching leadership and related management/administration and widely recognised for expertise within your academic discipline. You’ll also need proven experience of designing curricula and teaching at all levels in higher education. A consistent record of successful significant research grant capture is also required, as is a proven ability to design and implement research programmes within Finance.

Well-organised and self-motivated, you’ll be a positive team player who’s comfortable working independently and enjoys using their creativity and initiative to solve problems. Last but not least, you have the all-round communication skills it takes to write reports, give presentations and deal effectively with multiple stakeholders at all levels within, and outside of, a complex organisation.
