Why Your Role Matters:

As a Research Associate in Vascular Biology (Level A), you will be responsible for the conduct of experiments and analysis of data related to a program developing novel therapeutic approaches for occlusive vascular disease including atherosclerosis in Professor Khachigian’s group. You will be responsible for taking a management role in this project, performing experiments, and identifying opportunities for collaboration and funding and assisting the broader team with other research related duties.

The project will involve a range of molecular and cellular techniques in with cells in culture, and studies in rodent models of atherosclerosis and occlusive vascular disease. This is position supports work funded by NSW Health and the National Heart Foundation of Australia.

Who You Are:

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise and practical experience in animal models of atherosclerosis and vascular injury would be a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrated expertise and practical experience in use of viral constructs in culture and/or animal models would also be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vectors would be highly advantageous.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
