About the position

Situated within the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, the Biomedical Sciences discipline is responsible for the Bachelor of Biomedical Science, Bachelor of Health Sciences and associated Honours programs and contributes to teaching within the Bachelor of Medical Studies (the pre-clinical phase of the Bond Medical Program). The Quality Indicators of Learning and Teaching (QILT) rankings currently list the Biomedical Sciences discipline as number 1 in Australia for overall student satisfaction.

The Faculty offers a broad range of research opportunities within biomedical and health sciences. Research within the faculty is multidisciplinary with potential for collaborations with Faculty Research Centres e.g. Clem Jones Centre for Regenerative Medicine, Centre for Urology Research and numerous research groups. This position provides an ideal opportunity for an individual with capacity to develop and promote a culture of excellence in biomedical and health sciences teaching and research.

The position will specifically be responsible for convenorship and delivery of teaching of the undergraduate subjects Health Communication and Australia’s Health Issues & Priorities within the undergraduate programs, although there may also be opportunities for teaching within the successful candidate’s area of wider disciplinary expertise.

About the person

The Discipline invites applications from suitably qualified candidates with research and teaching experience relevant to biomedical and health sciences. Expectations of the position include contributions to the ongoing development and delivery of teaching and learning within the Biomedical Science discipline; research and scholarship; academic administration; and community engagement.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A PhD or equivalent qualification
  • a developing track record of effective teaching and learning, research and academic administration relevant to biomedical and health sciences disciplines.
  • Ideally the above will include expertise in teaching communication within health and related disciplines. 
  • The area(s) of research expertise will synergise with current faculty research interests within the Biomedical and Health Sciences field in order to maximise potential for collaborative research.

The salary for the position commences at $122,074.88 (Full Time Equivalent) plus 10.5% superannuation per annum. Salary packaging options are available for eligible employees.
