RMIT University, in partnership with Apple, is looking for two Educational Facilitators that are highly motivated to inspire new and diverse cohorts of participants to pursue a career in technology and app development through an innovative short program. You will help to deliver the Apple Foundation Program short course up to 5 times per year. The program will target traditionally underrepresented groups in the Tech sector, including girls and mid-career women, Indigenous peoples, those who are neurodiverse, LGBTIQA+, etc.

We are looking for candidates who have passion for designing and building technology, and who can bring agility, curiosity, and dedication to these positions. You will feel rewarded being part of the team preparing the next generations of world-class Apple app developers who will go on to redefine how technology positively impact our lives, and contributing to improving the diversity and inclusiveness of the sector.

About the position:

  • 2 x fixed-term (2 years) roles available within the School of Computing Technologies
  • Remuneration at professional level HEW 8, based at the City Campus
  • Full time (lower time fraction possible) with an openness to flexible scheduling of work activities, including evenings/weekends as required to accommodate the needs of target groups

About the Role

You will work with a team including experienced facilitators/instructors from both Apple and RMIT to create new, challenge-based learning experiences for the aspiring developers in the Apple Foundation Program, encompassing both coding and design aspects of application creation and development. You will be be excited about exploring new learning strategies and the use of non-traditional pedagogical approaches. You will be expected to learn alongside program participants, and model engaged learning as a senior learner.

Furthermore, you will be expected to work with an extended team to build a strong collection of promising practices and learning materials including creating technical solutions for use in-house by students, mentors, and administrators of the foundation program, or to support other university projects. You will additionally support outreach to our targeted groups to encourage participation in the program and more generally get them excited about a career in technology.

About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Extensive experience in, and a demonstrated passion for, technology-based instructional learning and empowering novice participants or mentees to reach their potential
  • A willingness to challenge the status quo and to experiment with new and exciting short course instruction and learning practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to deliver learning materials in an engaging manner to a variety of audiences
  • A commitment to increasing diversity in technology.
  • Proven ability to identify, build and maintain relationships with success in networking and stakeholder engagement

Qualifications

  • A postgraduate qualification or progress toward postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field (preferably a masters degree). Applicants without formal qualifications must have an equivalent level of professional expertise and/or education/training.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check
