Assistant / Associate Professor, Inorganic Geochemistry

Job Description

The College of Science (COS) at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites highly qualified individuals to apply for a faculty position in Inorganic Geochemistry. The COS seeks candidates who can contribute to its growing undergraduate and graduate programs in Geosciences through excellence in teaching and research. Candidates with multidisciplinary and applied research involving Petrology and Mineralogy are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels, a demonstrable research capability that will enable the candidate to develop and sustain an internally and/or externally funded research program in his/her area of expertise, publish his/her research findings in refereed journals, and actively engage in promoting the growth of the UAE University. The University reserves the right not to make an appointment in the light of budgetary or other considerations.

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in the applicable field. The ability to teach undergraduate courses is a must. Industrial and professional experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualification

Qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Geochemistry, Petrology, Mineralogy or a closely related field, demonstrated record of research accomplishments in geochemistry and related research, experience writing and securing grants, and effective and innovative teaching. Practical, industrial, or space experience related to any of the areas above is a plus. Faculty rank is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
