About the Role

The Media & Communications Program is ranked in the top 40 in its discipline globally and features a thriving academic and student community across its undergraduate degree, two masters coursework degrees, and Ph.D. cohort.

We are seeking an Academic Specialist (Media Industries) to join the Media and Communications Program. As the successful applicant, you will have academic qualifications and media industry experience and will coordinate and teach in the graduate and undergraduate programs of the University’s Media and Communications Program.

Responsibilities include:

  • Subject coordination duties including the development of Learning Management System sites and subject guides, preparing and marking assessments, and the selection and supervision of sessional tutors.
  • Curriculum design and innovation, including cross-disciplinary approaches
  • Development of technology-based teaching, learning, and assessment programs, and resources
  • Consultation with students on their research work and projects

An ability to teach subjects related to media industries with an emphasis on Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is essential for this position.

About You

You will be a passionate lecturer with specialisation and/or relevant professional experience in the media industry. You are continuously striving for excellence in teaching, including syllabus and curriculum design and are looking to further your academic career.

You will also have:

  • A completed Ph.D. in a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly research on media industries
  • Ability to supervise honours and postgraduate theses
  • Capacity to attract research grants or consultancies
